Nope. Jesus welcomed everyone who wanted to hear His message, and so do we.
We hope that you will take a break from the hustle and bustle of the weekday world, and enjoy a message of love, forgiveness and acceptance among a group of people who are doing the same thing. If you would like to give in support of our ministries, there’s an opportunity – but no one will ask you individually. If you find something going on at St. Philip that interests you, you are welcome to take part. No need to be a member – or a member of a committee – to participate.
We worship every Sunday at 10:30 a.m. in the sanctuary. There are occasional special services throughout the year (such as Christmas Eve). These are always listed on our church calendar.
Only if you want to. Some members dress up, others go casual. It depends on your personal style. We want you to be comfortable. We are!
Our liturgy, or order of worship, is similar from week to week, but some details will change. As you enter the sanctuary, you will be given an order of worship, which will help guide you as to when to sit, stand, pray and sing. Each service features songs, prayers and affirmations of our faith that are connected to the week’s scripture lesson. In our church, children are welcomed in worship and even have their own time with the pastor during the service.
Communion is a celebration open to all! We celebrate the Lord’s Supper the first Sunday of every month, and on other special days, such as Christmas Eve, Maundy Thursday and Easter. We believe that the table belongs to Christ, and Christ welcomes everyone to join in this joyful sacrament. We celebrate the sacrament with bread and grape juice, and we provide a gluten-free alternative.
Yes! Childcare is provided every Sunday morning and at many congregational events and is open to kids 5 years and younger. Our experienced childcare volunteers have been screened with background checks and have met the other requirements established by the church’s child protection policy.
Sunday School is available for all ages – children, youth and adults – beginning each Sunday at 9:15 a.m. As with our nursery volunteers, all adults volunteering with our children and youth have been screened and meet the requirements of our child protection policy.
Yes! There are handicapped parking spaces near the sanctuary entrance on Pipeline Road. There are no steps between these spaces and the sanctuary. There is an accessible restroom on the same level.
If you feel called by God to make St. Philip your church home, there are three ways you can join:
1) By Baptism. If you have never been baptized into a Christian church and wish to profess your faith in Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, you may join by undergoing the sacrament of baptism.
2) By Reaffirmation of Faith. If you have been baptized and were once a member of a Christian church, but no longer have an active membership, you may reaffirm your faith to join.
3) By Letter of Transfer. If you are an active member of another Presbyterian church (or any other Christian church) we can request that the church which holds your membership transfer it to St. Philip.
If you wish to speak to our Pastor about joining the church, you can contact him at any time, and he will gather our elders to welcome you into fellowship.
There is a Welcome Center (near the entrance to the sanctuary) where someone will be available to answer your questions. The pastor greets members as they exit the sanctuary after worship. You also may reach our staff by calling the church (817) 282-9181 or emailing the staff.
